I've noticed that when transferring super 8 to DV that the original frame area of the super 8 image is cropped a bit; image info at the edges of the S-8 frame falls outside the DV frame (it can be seen only a production monitor in teh so-called overscan margins, but not on regular TV's).
Does anyone the same experience, or any any tips for how to deal with this techincal difference for film that has ALREADY been shot? For future filming, I plan to allow for this lost area in future scene framing by framing a tad wider. (Ideally I will shoot a grid and know exactly how much to adjust.)
But what can done with existing footage that had been DV-cropped?

you need a transfer machine like the workprinter xp that exposes more of the super8 frame for transfer.

forgot to add that you could always enlarge the gate of your own projector, perhaps a spare. that will give you more to play with.
